In June 2000, Cinderella rocked Hartford, Connecticut with a blistering set of classics like "Gypsy Road," "Nobody's Fool," "The Last Mile," "Shelter Me," and others that had everyone in The Meadows Music Center standing up and enjoying life. After all, that's what Rock N' Roll is all about, isn't it? A very special part of the show had drummer Fred Coury breaking out his violin for a beautiful acoustic rendition of "Heartbreak Station." We caught up with Fred at the after-show backstage party. This is what he had to say:

HoS: How's the tour going?
Fred Coury: Great Man, it's only been a few days, but I'm really enjoying it.

HoS: So, what's the plan after the tour?
Fred Coury: We're gonna go back into the studio and finish the new record.

HoS: Do you have any songs already?
Fred Coury: We got 45 right now so, yeah, we're gonna have plenty of material.

HoS: That's awesome man! How long are you going to be on tour?
Fred Coury: We'll be out until maybe the middle of september.

HoS: Excellent. I saw you playing the violin during Heartbreak Station. When did you start playing?
Fred Coury: When I was 5.

HoS: Really?
Fred Coury: I kept playing until I was 13 and I was great at it. Then I discovered the drums and Rock N' Roll and the chicks, you know, and I really gave it up. And then Tom said on this tour we should try it. We tried to do it last year but I really kinda blew it off. So he finally talked me into doing it and it was a little off, but by the end of the tour it'll be good.

HoS: It sounded great.
Fred Coury: Thank you.

HoS: Are you going to be playing the violin on the new album?
Fred Coury: We'll see. It definitely could happen.

HoS: There's been rumors on the Internet about you guys and Slaughter not getting along, any truth to those?
Fred Coury: I think there was a little feud between a member here and a member there. But you know, I live in Nashville and Tom (Keifer) lives there and Mark (Slaughter) lives there and I always run into Mark and I got no problems. I think it comes from way back, from a European tour we did but to me man. (Shrugs his shoulders)

HoS: So you're getting along now?
Fred Coury: Yeah you have to. We're out here fighting for the same thing, we're on the same package and we're here for one reason. For everybody that pays their hard-earned money to come out to see a show. There's a lot of shows out there that may have good music, but you pay good money they come out there and don't even give a show, you know? You get a couple of guys sitting there in jeans playing in a small light show and no pyro, and you know they're pissed off and that's not what it's about. It's about what we're doing, four bands going on stage so you get your money's worth. So you get four good bands and everybody's having a good time, that's what it's about. Nobody should be pissed off, they should be here with a smile on their face.

HoS: Amen!
Fred Coury: They should be pissed because it's over, not because a band's on stage.

HoS: Exactly. What can we expect from Cinderella, from the new record?
Fred Coury: It's just going to be Cinderella you know, the real Cinderella. We're not trying to do anything different, we're just gonna do what we do.

HoS: Thanks, Fred.
Fred Coury: No problem bro, take care.
